The challenge
Novo Nordisk needed a way to collect and manage clinical trial recruitment data for its growing number of clinical trials. Previous systems were varied and localised, creating overhead and frustration when teams needed to manage and interpret data across trials.
- Clinical trial recruitment platform for a growing global trial programme
- Potential participant records grew from 5,000 in 2020 to nearly 30,000 in 2024
- Role-based permissions keep sensitive data visible only to the right users
- A secure token-authenticated API gives Novo Nordisk more ownership over trial, site and user data
Our approach
Together with Novo Nordisk, we analysed evidence from trial recruiters working in clinical settings with limited time, then designed the platform around fast, intuitive workflows. Administrators can add patients to trials with minimal clicks, while role-based permissions make sure users only see information appropriate to their responsibilities.
Security and ownership
We made the application responsive for tablets, laptops and desktop use, and exposed a secure external API so Novo Nordisk could manage users, trials and sites directly. Token authentication gives their teams flexibility and ownership while preserving appropriate data controls.
The results
The new platform makes clinical trial recruitment management smoother and more efficient. Novo Nordisk grew from 5,000 potential trial participants recorded on the platform in 2020 to nearly 30,000 in 2024, with reporting and exports tailored to specific trials, sites and users.
