We partnered with miMove to develop a connected mobile and web platform that helps schools monitor, encourage and improve physical activity among young people. By combining an engaging student experience with useful data for educators, the platform supports preventative public health work at scale.

The challenge

Rising levels of child inactivity present a long-term public health challenge. Schools play a critical role in shaping healthy behaviours, but often lack accessible tools to monitor physical activity in a structured way.

miMove set out to provide educators with a practical system that could motivate students and generate meaningful insight into activity levels. The platform needed to empower children to track their own movement while giving teachers visibility across classes and whole schools.

The goal was not simply engagement, but behaviour change supported by data.

Our approach

We worked closely with the miMove team to define a dual-platform solution: a mobile app for students and a web dashboard for educators.

The mobile app enables children to log physical activity in a simple and positive way, encouraging ownership of their health. The experience was designed to be intuitive across age groups, reducing barriers to participation.

Behind the scenes, we developed a secure API to connect the mobile and web platforms. The web application provides educators with clear metrics that highlight trends, participation levels and areas where additional encouragement may be needed.

By turning individual activity entries into aggregated insight, schools can take a more structured and proactive approach to promoting movement.

Results and impact

miMove has been rolled out across schools internationally, supporting early intervention strategies that encourage healthier behaviours from a young age.

Students gain visibility into their own activity patterns, while teachers can identify engagement gaps and respond with targeted encouragement. The platform provides a data-informed foundation for schools seeking to embed physical wellbeing into daily routines.

The scalable architecture ensures the system can support broader adoption and expanded functionality as public health priorities evolve.

Looking ahead

As awareness of preventative health grows, digital tools like miMove play an important role in supporting long-term wellbeing outcomes.

The platform has been built to scale alongside new schools and regions, providing a sustainable digital foundation for promoting active lifestyles. We look forward to supporting the continued evolution of the system as it contributes to wider public health goals.
